In 1961, The Association of English-Speaking Catholics of Chateauguay petitioned the Chateauguay Catholic School Commission for permission to use the facilities of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, still in the construction phase, for Sunday Mass.
Once the school had been completed, it was renamed St. Willibrord School, veering from the original plan to name it Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. Many of the members of the Association of English-Speaking Catholics of Chateauguay, prior to relocating to the south shore, lived in the vicinity of Ste. Anne’s church in Griffin town.
There they practiced weekly devotions to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. This connection along with the now available name of Our Lady of Perpetual Help led to the naming of the Parish.
