The official opening of the Our Lady of Perpetual help Church took place on Christmas

Sunday Mass relocated to Willibrord School on September 9,1962 and construction began on the new church in August of 1963.

Mass was offered for the first time in the gymnasium
of Chateauguay High School (now Howard S Billings Polyvalent Hight School) on April 8. 1962.

The decree for the new church was given on March 10, 1962.

May 25,1961

The petition was submitted to Bishop Langlois on May 25,1961 and it was decided by the diocese to set up a full parish. Bishop Langlois asked the Franciscan Fathers to serve in the newly founded Parish of Our lady of Perpetual Help.

The Association of English- Speaking Catholics was formed on October 23, 1960
and the aim of this group was to petition the diocese of Valleyfield to consider the creation of a national
mission parish for the English-speaking Catholics of Chateauguay.

Back in 1960, English speaking Catholics were attending Sunday Mass at four French speaking parishes in
the Chateauguay area.
